Application Procedure
Thank you for your interest in our graduate program! All students should start by filling out a graduate application with the University of Florida Office of Admissions here.
TOEFL scores are valid for two years. Our department no longer requires the GRE and we discourage students from sending in GRE scores.
We accept graduate applications to the MS EDGE (online) program in spring and summer, and applications from current UF undergraduates. If you are not a current UF undergraduate, or applying to the EDGE program, you are not eligible to apply in the spring or summer. Ineligible applications will be automatically deferred to the following fall semester.
All application materials, including letters of recommendation and official standardized test scores, should be received by the University of Florida by the application deadline.
No, unofficial transcripts can be used for the review process.
We do! If your background is in physics or a different engineering field, you may be required to take up to three undergraduate ECE courses after you are admitted. Students with non-STEM backgrounds may need to take undergraduate courses in essential prerequisites (e.g., calculus, physics) before submitting an application. For more information, see our graduate articulation page.
Application Status
It can take several weeks for your scores to be posted to your application after you request them from the testing agency. Please allow a few weeks for your application status to be updated before you contact the ECE Department. If the name on your score report is at all different from the name on your UF application, your scores won’t be matched automatically. In that case, please send a PDF copy of your score report to office@ece.ufl.edu so we can help Admissions match your scores to your application.
Yes, All ECE Advisors require students to include their UFID numbers in email correspondence. Including your, UFID will assist your advisor in reviewing your file.
Most admissions decisions are sent between March and May. If any application materials are received after the application deadline, expect significant delays in getting your decision.
You can check the status of your UF application here.
Transcripts uploaded to the application will normally be marked with a red “X” and will be titled “Uploaded Transcript – Under Review”. This means that the Office of Admissions has received the uploaded document, but they have not reviewed it yet. Once the uploaded document has been reviewed, they will update the status to a green tick mark, and the transcripts will then say “Received”. Please be patient as most transcripts are not reviewed until after the department has made a decision on the application. The majority of decisions are sent from March – May.
