Dr. Hamed Dalir’s CHIP Lab at the University of Florida published a new paper in Nature Communications Physics showcasing their groundbreaking research on integrating machine learning within optical networks.

A diverse team led by three ECE Florida faculty members is set to receive funding from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to design and fabricate dynamic pressure sensors capable of performing at temperatures upwards of 800 °C (1472 °F), over a factor of 6X higher than any integrated pressure sensor currently in use.

Dr. Sudipto Chakraborty leads the low power circuit design for next generation quantum computing applications using nano CMOS technology nodes at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center. Maosheng Yang is a PhD student at the department of Intelligent Systems of TU Delft, the Netherlands. He presents “Modeling and Learning Simplicial Signals—an Edge Case” Wednesday, March 20 at 3:00pm in MALA 3003. Presented by the Computational NeuroEngineering Laboratory.

Walden C. Rhines Endowed Assistant Professor for Hardware Security Farimah Farahmandi has received an NSF CAREER award in support of her project “SAIF: Security Assurance through AI and Formal Approaches for System-on-Chips.”

Dr. Takahiro Tsunoda is a postdoctoral associate at Yale University, specializing in superconducting circuits and bosonic quantum error correction. He presents “Fault Tolerance in Quantum Electrical Circuits” Monday, March 11 at 1:00pm in MALA 5050.

Dr. Dennis Kim is a research scientist at UCLA. He presents “Finding Order in Disorder: Atomic-Scale Understanding of Phase Transformations” Wednesday, March 13 at 1:00pm in MALA 5050.

Japanese semiconductor titan Renesas is set to visit the UF campus on Thursday, March 7 for a full day of visits and interaction with ECE Florida. Representatives will present a technical talk at 1:00pm focusing on key engineering roles for IC development. Later in the day, there will be a networking event and résumé workshop.

Dr. Jesse Moody is a Principal Member of the Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratory. He presents “Energy-Efficient RF Systems at the Edge” Thursday, March 7 at 11:00am in MALA 5050.

Dr. Kin Chung Fong is a senior scientist at Raytheon BBN (Cambridge, MA) and a research associate at the Physics Department at Harvard University. He presents “An Interdisciplinary Approach to Advance Quantum Science and Technology” Friday, March 1 at 1:00pm in LAR 234.
