After over two years of development, across academic institutions and industry partners, the NSF Center for Big Learning (CBL) has been officially awarded, creating the first NSF center on deep learning.

Congratulations are in order for Huikai Xie, ECE Florida, just promoted to Fellow of the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE). Dr. Xie is recognized for his achievements in optical MEMS and optical endoscopic imaging.

Dr. Roozbeh Tabrizian has received an NSF CAREER Award for his project, “Active Nano-Acoustic Waveguide Matrix to Tackle Signal Processing Limits: Enabling Wideband and Nonreciprocal Integrated Communication Beyond the UHF.”

Dan D. MICU, Professor at Department of Electrical Engineering, Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania is currently Fulbright Scholar at ECE Florida. On Jan. 29 @ 4:00, Larsen 234, he will review the results of his research at the Applied Electromagnetics Research Center.

On January 25, ECE hosts a unique seminar at 11:45, Larsen 310, with two BME faculty giving condensed, 15-minute talks. Dr. Ruogo Fang and Dr. Kevin Otto will each present their big ideas in a format similar to a TED talk.
