Assistant Professor Tuba Yavuz has been awarded a 2020 NSF CAREER Award for her project, “Towards a Secure and Reliable Internet of Things through Automated Model Extraction and Analysis.”

In the culmination of a three-year competition cycle, Team GatorWings beat ten other teams in the DARPA Spectrum Collaboration Challenge (SC2) to win first place, taking home a $2M prize.

Y.K. Yoon’s Multidisciplinary Nano & Microsystems (MnM) Lab was one of only four groups to invited to participate in the first annual President’s Council Celebration and Tailgate this past Saturday, Sept. 7.

Professor Vladimir Rakov was recently awarded the Richard R. Stoddart Award for Outstanding Performance at the 2019 IEEE International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility, Signal & Power Integrity (EMC & SPI). He was honored for “Outstanding Contributions to the field of lightning research.” 

Yier Jin, an associate professor, Roozbeh Tabrizian, and Domenic Forte (both assistant professors) have all recently received national awards recognizing outstanding work done by researchers early in their careers.

IMG research focuses on micro- and nanosystems for healthcare, energy, security, aerospace, transportation, consumer electronics, and other industries. The group recently announced that effective May 1, Mark Sheplak would take over as director.

ECE Professor Kamran Mohseni and Kevin Nelson, a graduate research assistant working with Mohseni’s Research Group, were recently honored to find their work on the cover of the Nature Machine Intelligence.

Assistant Professor Dr. Roozbeh Tabrizian is set to receive a DARPA Young Faculty Award for 2019 for his proposal, “Ferroelectrically Transduced Ge Nano-Fin Bulk Acoustic Resonators for Chip-Scale Instinctually Adaptive RF Spectral Processing.”

The Army Research Office (ARO) has awarded Domenic Forte, Ph.D., Assistant Professor and Director of the Florida Institute for Cybersecurity (FICS) Research Scan Lab, a $1 million grant to study ways and means of securing electronic hardware systems.

Dr. José Fortes was one of three Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering faculty recently named University of Florida Research Foundation (UFRF) Professors for 2019-2022.
