One of ECE Florida’s most distinguished alumni, Dr. Sachio Semmoto (MS ’68 PhD ’71), returned to the University of Florida (UF) for a whirlwind visit, participating in a Q&A session with students.

Rohan Basu Roy is a Ph.D. Candidate at Northeastern University. He presents “Toward Making Computation on Large-scale Systems Faster, Cheaper, and More Environment-Friendly” Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 1:00pm in LAR 234.

Dr. Shaofeng Zou is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering at SUNY Buffalo. He presents “Reinforcement Learning for Treatment Recommendations in Healthcare: Challenges, Algorithms and Analyses” Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 1:00pm in LAR 234.

Dr. Zheng Liu presents “Universal Frequency-agile and Energy Efficient Arrays and Transmitters at mmWave” Friday, Feb. 23 at 1:00pm in LAR 234.

Dr. Emiliano Dall’Anese is an Associate Professor in the ECEE Department at the University of Colorado Boulder. He presents “Advancing AI and Automation via Learning-based Online Optimization and Control” Monday, Feb. 26 at 1:00pm in LAR 234.

Students will get the unique chance of asking a world-renowned innovator and entrepreneur—Dr. Sachio Semmoto—about his life, his career path, and anything else on Monday, Feb. 19. The Q&A session with Dr. Semmoto will be held at 11:00am in the NVIDIA Auditorium in Malachowsky Hall and will be an in-person only event.

Dr. Mo Chen is a postdoctoral scholar at the California Institute of Technology. He presents “Taming Material Noise in Superconducting Quantum Circuits” Monday, Feb. 5 at 1:00pm in LAR 234.

Dr. Mengzhen Zhang is a post-doctoral scholar working on quantum engineering in the University of Chicago. He presents “Applied Quantum Engineering: Quantum Transduction & Quantum Sensing” Friday, Feb. 2 at 1:00 pm in LAR 234.

Dr. Roger T. Howe is the William E. Ayer Professor Emeritus in the Dept. of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University. He presents “Perspectives about Academic Career Development from a Newly Minted Professor Emeritus” Thursday, Feb. 1 at 3:00pm in the Malachowsky Hall Nvidia Auditorium.
