Dr. Ben Haeffele is an associate research scientist in the Mathematical Institute for Data Science and the Center for Imaging Science at Johns Hopkins University. He presents “A Convex Lens for Non-Convex Learning” Wednesday, March 22 at 3:00pm in NEB 409.

Dr. Marko J. Tadjer is a civilian electronics engineer at the Electronic Science and Technology Division at the US Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC. He presents “Ultra-Wide Bandgap Semiconductors for Next-Generation Power Electronics” Thursday, March 23 at 1:00pm in LAR 234.

Caio Kalil Lauand is a Ph.D. student at the University of Florida under the supervision of Dr. Sean Meyn. He presents “Clever Exploration for Machine Learning” Wednesday, March 22 at 3:00pm in NEB 409.

Xiaolei Guo is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering. She presents “Interactive Segmentation with Deep Metric Learning” Wednesday, March 8 at 3:00pm in NEB 409.

Dr. Arthur Paolella is currently a Technical Fellow at L3Harris Technologies. He presents “Directions in 3-D Printed RF Systems for Space Applications” Thursday, March 9 at 1:00pm in LAR 234.

ECE Florida is saddened to announce the passing of Professor Emeritus Fred Taylor. Dr. Taylor was with the department for over 35 years and was a much-loved teacher, mentor, and researcher.

Firas Laakom is a doctoral student at Tampere University, Finland. He presents “Feature Diversity Regularization for Neural Networks” Wednesday, March 1 at 3:00pm in NEB 409.

ECE Associate Professor Sanjeev Koppal was recently selected as an Amazon Scholar. He’ll work with Amazon to create better cameras and better algorithms for their robots.
