ECE Florida Assistant Professor Baoyun Ge has received an NSF CAREER Award for his project “Guided Exploration of Multiphysics Design Space for Electric Machines Using Tensorial Analysis (GEOMETRY).”

ECE Florida Professor David Arnold has been named a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI). This honor recognizes his work developing novel materials, the co-invention of MEMS microphone array technology, the 34 patents he holds, and multiple licensed technologies developed at UF.

Dr. Philip Feng, ECE professor and associate chair for research, has been named as the inaugural Walden C. Rhines Endowed Professor for Quantum Engineering. The endowment will support Dr. Feng’s research program, focused on quantum engineering, novel materials, and nanoelectricalmechanical devices (NEMS), as well as the creation of the Florida Quantum Initiative. 

ECE Chair Mark Tehranipoor received the 2023 Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC) Aristotle Award.

ECE Florida is pleased to welcome four new members of the faculty: Dr. Volker Sorger, Dr. Yingying Wu, Dr. Elham Heidari, and Dr. Hamed Dalir.

Distinguished Professor Mark Law was recently informed that he is a member of the 2023 class of Fellows of the National Collegiate Honors Council.

ECE Florida is saddened to announce the passing of Professor Emeritus Fred Taylor. Dr. Taylor was with the department for over 35 years and was a much-loved teacher, mentor, and researcher.

ECE Associate Professor Sanjeev Koppal was recently selected as an Amazon Scholar. He’ll work with Amazon to create better cameras and better algorithms for their robots.

Faculty members from the ECE Department are collaborating with researchers from the Engineering Education Department (EED) and the College of Education (CoE) on a new NSF project, Innovating Quantum-Inspired Learning for Undergraduates in Research and Engineering.

ECE Assistant Professor Navid Asadi has received an NSF CAREER Award in support of his project, “Backside Protection Against Contactless Optical Attacks on Integrated Circuits in Advanced Technology Nodes.”
