Chatterjee Receives NSF CAREER Award to Advance the Future of Medical Electronics through Body-Coupled Network of Devices

Baibhab Chatterjee, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Florida, has received a prestigious National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award, the agency’s highest honor for early-career faculty. His funded project, “MED-IoB: Transforming Medical Electronics using Distributed Internet of Bodies (IoB) for Powering, Sensing, Communication and Synchronization,” seeks to revolutionize implantable and wearable medical electronics by enabling seamless data connectivity and power in a network of devices, leveraging the conductive property of the human body.

Tabrizian Honored as Rising Star

Dr. Roozbeh Tabrizian has been selected to be inducted as a 2024 Rising Star by the Academy of Science, Engineering, and Medicine of Florida. The organization honored Tabrizian for “pioneering advancements in semiconductor nano-electro-mechanical systems enabling transformative innovations in microwave spectral processing and precision timekeeping.”

Farahmandi Named Inaugural Holder of Endowed Hardware Security Professorship

Dr. Farimah Farahmandi has been named as the inaugural holder of the Walden C. Rhines Endowed Professorship for Hardware Security. Farahmandi is an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering and also serves as the associate director of the Florida Institute for Hardware Security (FICS) Research.
