Farahmandi Receives NSF CAREER Award for AI-Assisted Security Verification Framework

Two ECE Faculty Members Elevated to IEEE Fellow
December 19, 2023Two ECE Florida faculty members, Dr. Swarup Bhunia and Dr. Volker Sorger, have been elevated to the rank of life fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). IEEE Fellow is a distinction reserved for select members whose extraordinary accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest are deemed fitting of the prestigious grade elevation.

Baoyun Ge Receives NSF CAREER Award to Explore High-Performance, Highly Sustainable Electric Machines
December 18, 2023ECE Florida Assistant Professor Baoyun Ge has received an NSF CAREER Award for his project “Guided Exploration of Multiphysics Design Space for Electric Machines Using Tensorial Analysis (GEOMETRY).”

December 15, 2023ECE Florida Professor David Arnold has been named a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI). This honor recognizes his work developing novel materials, the co-invention of MEMS microphone array technology, the 34 patents he holds, and multiple licensed technologies developed at UF.

Philip Feng Named Inaugural Rhines Endowed Professor for Quantum Engineering
December 11, 2023Dr. Philip Feng, ECE professor and associate chair for research, has been named as the inaugural Walden C. Rhines Endowed Professor for Quantum Engineering. The endowment will support Dr. Feng’s research program, focused on quantum engineering, novel materials, and nanoelectricalmechanical devices (NEMS), as well as the creation of the Florida Quantum Initiative.

In Memoriam: Professor Emeritus Fred Taylor
