ECE Assistant Professor Jie Fu has received a $550K NSF CAREER Award in support of her project Formal “Synthesis of Provably Correct Cyber-Physical Defense with Asymmetric Information.”

ECE Florida is excited to welcome the newest member of our faculty, Dr. Baoyun Ge. He officially starts as an assistant professor on May 15.

Senior Design Expo is a chance for ECE students to present their capstone design projects. Usually created in teams of two, these projects are the culmination of the undergraduate ECE experience.

Triple Gator Engineer Robert Kemerait (BSEE ’60, MSEE ’66, PhD ’71) was recently honored in Cape Canaveral as he prepared to retire from a lifetime of engineering excellence. ECE Chair John Harris and Senior Director of Advancement Sarah Johnson were on hand for the festivities.

On Wednesday, March 23, American chess master Bruce Pandolfini will join (via Zoom) students in the UF Honors (Un)common Reads course focusing on The Queen’s Gambit (novel and Netflix series).

Olaoluwa Adigun is a Ph.D. candidate in the Signal and Image Processing Institute, ECE Department at USC (LA). He presents “Bidirectional Backpropagation and High Capacity Network” Thursday, March 31 at 1:00pm Via Zoom.

Dr. Aoyang Zhang is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University. He presents “Integrated Circuit and System for Next Generation Communications, Sensing and Imaging” Tuesday, March 1 at 1:00pm via Zoom.

ECE Florida is saddened to learn of the passing of esteemed alumnus Dr. Fred Sias, Jr. (BSEE ’54 MSEE ’59). Fred Sias’ connection with ECE Florida is a deep one—his father, Ralph Sias, graduated from the University of Florida in 1928 with a Bachelor’’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Dr. Yuheng Bu is a postdoctoral research associate with the Institute for Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He presents “Can Information Theory Characterize Learning Algorithms?” Thursday, March 3 at 1:00pm via Zoom.

Rui Zhang is currently a final-year PhD candidate at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology. She presents “Next-generation Heterogeneous Communications: Capacity, Flexibility, and Efficiency” Tuesday, March 15 at 1:00pm via Zoom.
