Dr. Chris Wilson of UF Agronomy and ECE Florida’s Dr. Alina Zare are using hyper-spectral imagery of experimental cow pastures to better understand the ecosystem effects of adding perennial peanut to beef pastures.

Soumyajit Mandal is currently the T. and A. Schroeder Assistant Professor at Case Western Reserve University, and will join the University of Florida as an Associate Professor in January 2020. Dr. Sean Meyn is Professor and Robert C. Pittman Eminent Scholar Chair at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Florida. He presents “An Introduction to the Theory of Reinforcement Learning (and Why It Must Be Zapped!)” Thursday, Nov. 7 at 1:00 pm in LAR 310.

In the culmination of a three-year competition cycle, Team GatorWings beat ten other teams in the DARPA Spectrum Collaboration Challenge (SC2) to win first place, taking home a $2M prize.

Dr. Fatemeh Ganji is a postdoctoral fellow at the Florida Institute for Cybersecurity (FICS) Research. She presents “Machine Learning for Cybersecurity: Standing on the Shoulders of Giants,” Thursday, Oct. 24 at 1:00 pm, in 310 Larsen Hall.

Philip Feng is currently a Professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Florida. He is also a member of the Interdisciplinary Microsystems Group (IMG). He presents “Emerging Semiconductor Nanoscale Devices and Systems: from Fundamentals to Applications” Thursday, Oct. 10 at 1:00 pm in LAR 310.

Dr. Kirk W. Cameron is Professor of Computer Science and Associate Department Head for Research and Engagement at the Department of Computer Science at Virginia Tech. He presents “Rethinking Quantitative Approaches to Computer System Design in the Power Age” Thursday, Oct. 3, 1:00pm, 310 Larsen Hall.

Robyn Lutz is a professor of computer science at Iowa State University. She presents “Designing Safe Programmed Molecular Systems,” Monday, Nov. 4 at 2:00 pm in LAR 234.

Dr. Joel Harley is co-PI on a project that combines artificial intelligence and deep learning with materials and chemical science.

Kejun Huang is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Computer and Information Science and Engineering at University of Florida. He presents “Latent Variable Identification using Identifiable Matrix Factorization Methods,” Thursday, Sept. 26 at 1:00 pm in LAR 310.
