Y.K. Yoon’s Multidisciplinary Nano & Microsystems (MnM) Lab was one of only four groups to invited to participate in the first annual President’s Council Celebration and Tailgate this past Saturday, Sept. 7.

Professor Vladimir Rakov was recently awarded the Richard R. Stoddart Award for Outstanding Performance at the 2019 IEEE International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility, Signal & Power Integrity (EMC & SPI). He was honored for “Outstanding Contributions to the field of lightning research.” 

ECE Florida and Professor Y.K. Yoon recently hosted a group of eight graduate students from the Graduate Program for Mechanical Systems Innovation (GMSI) at the University of Tokyo in Japan. The visiting students collaborated with UF students from IMG and the MIST Center.

Yier Jin is the Endowed IoT Term Professor in the Warren B. Nelms Institute for the Connected World and also an Associate Professor at ECE Florida. He presents “Hardware and Architecture-Supported Cybersecurity for Internet of Things” Thursday, Sept. 5 @ 1:00 pm, Larsen Hall 310.

José Martinez-Lorenzo is an associate professor at Northeastern University, where he directs the Sensing, Imaging, Control, Actuation, and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. He presents “ML/AI-driven Coordination of Multiple Autonomous Robotic Swarms of Networked UAVs using 4D Information Theory, mm-wave MIMO Radar, and Computer Vision” Wednesday, Aug. 21 @ 3:00 pm, LAR 234.

Robert Moore is currently an Associate Professor at ECE Florida. He presents “Deeply Penetrating Radio, Large Wavelength Scattering, Ionospheric Electrodynamics, and Geospace,” Thursday, Aug. 29 at 1:00pm, LAR 310.

Yier Jin, an associate professor, Roozbeh Tabrizian, and Domenic Forte (both assistant professors) have all recently received national awards recognizing outstanding work done by researchers early in their careers.

Alina Zare is an Associate Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. She presents “Plant Root Analysis with Multiple Instance Learning,” Thursday, Sept. 12 @ 1:00pm.

Beloved ECE engineer and teaching faculty Bill Wagner passed away on June 26. Bill taught in the teaching lab from 1985 to 2002.
