ECE Assistant Professor Dr. Navid Asadi will be serving as the program chair for the well-regarded 2021 IEEE PAINE Conference, to be held Nov. 30–Dec. 2, hosted virtually from Washington, D.C.

Dr. Baoyun Ge is a research electrical engineer at C-Motive Technologies, Inc., Madison, a startup company developing capacitively coupled power conversion technologies. Dr. Francisco M. Gonzalez-Longatt is currently a professor in electrical power engineering at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology and Cybernetics, University of South-Eastern Norway, Norway. He presents “Frequency Control and Inertia Response Schemes for Future Power Networks” Friday, Oct. 22 at 1:00pm via Zoom.

Patricio A. Vela is an associate professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He presents “Perceptual Representations for Autonomous Mobile Robot Navigation of Unknown Worlds” Thursday, Oct. 14 at 1:00pm via Zoom.

Dr. Edson Bortoni is a professor and the president (Rector) of the UNIFEI, Itajubá, Brazil. He presents “The Meaning of Energy Transition for the Brazilian Energy System” Thursday, Oct. 7 at 1:00pm via Zoom.

Dr. Pablo Gomez is an associate professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Western Michigan University (WMU). He presents “Contemporary Challenges of the Transient Analysis and Electromagnetic Design of Power Grid Components and Systems” Thursday, Sept. 23 at Noon via Zoom.

Dr. Josep M. Jornet is an associate professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Northeastern University. He presents “Conquering the Terahertz Band for 6G Systems: From Theory to Practice” Thursday, Sept. 30 at 1:00pm.

The UF Summer Research Experience was a special opportunity for high school students to get involved in STEM-related research at UF. The two-week virtual research experience provided insight into two potential future fields of study for the students: robotics & artificial intelligence.
